The former Scotland flanker Tyrone Holmes has now joined the Newcastle Falcons team after putting up an impressive rugby show at the Kingston Park trials. Holmes is very happy to be in the mix of things once again. The 30 year old said that he has rediscovered his love for rugby and is looking for his chance to play in the Premiership this season.
Holmes was released from the Glasgow Warriors side last season and he was a free agent. This is when Dean Richards took Holmes for a trial and was impressed with what he had put yup at the Kingston Park. This led to Tyrone getting the contract.
Holmes said that he is enjoying this new experience with the Falcons boys and feels refreshed and happy to be playing rugby again. He has huge amounts of praise for the coaching staff of the Falcons. He said that he did not feel that his rugby career was over as he had the drive and passion for the game intact within him. He said that he was happy that he grabbed the opportunity that came his way with both hands.
Holmes admitted that he was surprised to get a call from Newcastle Falcons, but is very happy that he has made it to the team. He was happy to have trained the whole week with the Falcons squad at their Yorkshire training camp and finally signed as a full time player.
Falcons’ rugby director, Richards, said that Tyrone is a very good player and has mightily impressed everyone at Falcons during the training camp. He is pretty strong defensively and carries the ball very well. Richards said that the Falcons are very happy with the inclusion of Holmes in their Premiership squad. Holmes is hoping that he will be able to add more value to the Falcons team this season.
