Aviva Premiership Rugby Football Union club the Newcastle Falcons have tied down lock forward Scott MacLeod to a new that sees the player pledge his short term future to the Kingston Park outfit.
This new contract, which will see the player turn out for the Falcons till the end of next season is seen somewhat as a coup for the club after it emerged that the player might be looking to leave the club for pastures anew for one last payday but he has now decided to stay with the club he has been with for the last couple of seasons.
The 35 year old MacLeod was snapped up the Falcons from the Kobe Steelers back in 2012 and he was one of the pillars as the Newcastle Falcons bounced back within a year of relegation to the RFU Championship to return to the Aviva Premiership at the end of last season.
MacLeod, who has been capped 24 times by the Scotland national team at international level has featured 16 times for Dean Richards’ team this season and despite his age, he is still considered one of the key players of the side.
And according to Richards, the expertise of Scott MacLeod at lineout is invaluable for the Falcons in the Premiership and he is happy that the player has been secured on a new contract.
And speaking of his new contract, the player stated that the Newcastle Falcons is a club with big plans for the future and he wants to be a part of what the club is aiming to achieve under the stewardship of Dean Richards.
He also mentioned that he has enjoyed his time immensely at the club since he joined in 2012 and he is happy to be given the chance to play one more season.
